Four cores are great if you are doing DVD encoding or Photoshop etc..Also multitasking you can have 4 different processor intensive programs running, 1 on each core and not have to worry about crashing or bogging down.

"Once everyone is on to two cores in a year or two, then we start talking about four cores."No, immediately - if you want to upgrade now and be relatively future proof for a while.

If you have to ask then you obviously don't need four cores. As far as games go probably not too many are multi-core ready, but for applications, there are quite a few that are now.Posted on Sep 30, 07:21
I agree, atm there are only a handful of applications that benefit from multiple cores and unless you work intensely with those specific programs, the additional cost doesn't seem justified.Posted on Sep 29, 21:19

What's the big deal about quad-core? How many of the games you play or apps you use actually know what to do with two-cores right now? It's all marketing. Once everyone is on to two cores in a year or two, then we start talking about four cores.Posted on Sep 28, 14:56
Wow, maybe I'll buy one of these. It's been a while and it's time for an upgrade :-)
