Being the only motorcycle OE among over 1,800 members of MIH, the electric vehicle consortium built by Foxconn. Taiwan's Aeon Motor is looking to find more opportunities through MIH to enter the market of micro-motor vehicles – a category of vehicles below 350 kilograms between a regular four-wheeler and a regular two-wheeler.

Vehicles in the future will be equipped with self-driving technologies and the Internet of Vehicle (IoV), but motorcycles are overlooked throughout the electrification trends in the automotive industry, said Tony Lin, CEO at Aeon Motor.

Technologies are used in EVs to enhance safety, and Aeon Motor is looking for opportunities to connect such technologies with its CROXERA Smart Dashboard. Thorough communication between vehicles, no matter two-wheeled or four-wheeled, can reduce accidents and increase the overall safety level.

Besides that motorcycles should be included in the IoV, Lin added, Aeon wants to develop microcars with help from MIH. Microcars are the likes of Toyota's iRoad and other vehicles rated as L5-L7 by EU's automobile standards.

Having pitched about microcars in an MIH conference before, Aeon also has a lot to share with partners from MIH. Although Lin's ideas about microcars have not materialized, he has found a few partners.

Aeon aims to innovate in certain markets other than power, design, performance, differentiation of products, etc., said Lin. Aeon ultimately wants to create a fresh riding experience for its customers.
