The state government of Telangana, India announced on Monday that it would set up the Telangana Mobility Valley around Hyderabad, the state's capital city, to promote R&D and manufacturing of electric vehicles (EV) that include electric two-wheelers and electric three-wheelers.
According to Times of India, the Telangana Mobility Valley (TMV) project will include four large clusters in the state: an engineering and innovation cluster at Yenkathala; two EV manufacturing clusters at Zaheerabad and Seetharampur, and one energy storage cluster at Divitipally.
The TMV could attract INR500 billion (US$6 billion) investment from industry players, according to the state government.
Amara Raja Batteries Limited (ARBL), a local manufacturer of both automotive and industrial lead-acid battery, announced in December 2022 that it planned to invest INR95 billion in setting up a lithium-ion battery factory in the city of Mahbubnagar.
Other suppliers that are investing for the project include Olectra, Mytrah, Gravton, PureEV, One Moto, Etrio, Eto Lite, reported Times of India.
Hyundai Motor Group, as reported in May 2022 by other Indian media sources, would be a stakeholder and a consortium partner of the Mobility Valley with an investment of INR14 billion. Hyundai India has confirmed the investment.
Asian Lite News reported that Bosch Global Software Technologies would hire up to 3,000 employees to develop AI and safety solutions for e-mobility in Telangana; Fisker, an US-based EV startup, has set up a R&D center there as well.
