Coby Electronics, a US-based firm that produces consumer electronics, has launched its Coby Kyros tablet PCs, which are available in 7- and 8-inch touchscreen LCDs and powered by the Android 2.2 and 2.3 operating systems, depending on the model. A new 10-inch model featuring a touchscreen for advanced gesturing will also be launched later this month, according to Coby.
All models enable users to access the Internet through high-speed Wi-Fi networking and feature more than a dozen built-in applications, each identified with a different icon, the company said. Among the included apps are an alarm clock, a browser for surfing the web, calculator, calendar, email, gallery for viewing and playing movies, music and a video player to watch the latest Internet videos and more. In addition, the Coby Kyros tablets offer several other pre-installed apps, the Aldiko E-book for downloading and reading e-books, e-music for music collection and AppsLib for browsing, downloading and installing apps.
The Coby KYROS models feature 4GB of built-in memory, expandable to 16GB or 32GB, depending on the model, 1 GHz processor, (Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g) and HDMI support. Selected models feature a front facing camera and built-in microphone and speakers.
