Digial camera and optical component/module maker Asia Optical has launched Pasesa, a portable non-invasive vascular screening device used to detect cardiovascular sclerosis, according to the company.

Based on 90-second automatic measurement, Pasesa can indicate AVI (arterial velocity pulse index) and API (arterial pressure-volume index) to let users know stiffness of arteries, Asia Optical said. The medical device can be used in regular monitoring of stiffness of arteries to detect cardiovascular sclerosis, enabling users to reduce risks of stroke and myocardial infarction, Asia Optical indicated.

Asia Optical has reported consolidated revenues of NT$1.386 billion (US$49.2 million) for January, decreasing 11.27% sequentially but increasing 80.32% on year, and those of NT$2.947 billion for January-February grew 65.91% on year.

Asia Optical expects shipments for automotive lenses, compact LiDAR modules, smartphone-use periscope zoom lenses and optical modules used in VR and AR devices in 2021 to significantly rise on year.
