Just as India hopes to develop a green hydrogen and green ammonia supply chain, US-based Triton Electric Vehicle has announced that they will produce and launch hydrogen-fueled two-wheelers and three-wheelers in India, the first hydrogen-fueled vehicles made locally.

According to Hindustan News Hub and Content Media Solution, Triton said they will have their first hydrogen two-wheelers and three-wheelers on the Indian roads and will also be exporting them from India. Triton did not disclose the launch date of their products.

Triton has selected a 600-acre plot in Bhuj, Gujarat to set up their manufacturing plant in India, which will be three million square feet in size. Besides, Triton has established an R&D center in Anand, Gujarat for the development of two-wheelers and three-wheelers.

In August 2021, India's prime minister Narendra Modi announced the National Hydrogen Mission. In February 2022, the Indian government announced the green hydrogen/ammonia policy to reduce the cost of renewable energy for the hydrogen industry, intending to reach the capacity of five million tons of green hydrogen/ammonia by 2030.

Reliance Industries is also building its green energy businesses in India, including four giga-scale green energy plants for green hydrogen, fuel cells and others. Reliance announced in February to repurpose its Jamnagar plant located in Gujarat to produce blue hydrogen as an interim solution before the cost of green hydrogen declines.
