Asustek Computer projects to ship 500,000 own-brand handsets in the Taiwan market in 2006, aiming to capture a 7% market share, said Benson Lin, Asustek's vice president and director of sales and marketing for the Taiwan and Asia-Pacific region. Asustek plans to introduce more than 20 new handsets for the global market in 2006, starting with a January 23 launch of its J121 and J202 handsets for the local market, Lin said.
