Intelligent Epitaxy Technology (IntelliEPI), which supplies epi-wafers to the electronics and optoelectronics industries, has temporarily halted production at its facilities in Texas due to rolling power outages across the US state amid frigid weather.
IntelliEPI chairman Yung-Chung Kao pointed out that the suspension is bound to delay shipments in February 2021, which will have some impacts on revenue.
But customers understand the situation, so the overall orders have not been affected, he said, adding the company will accelerate shipments aftger production resumes.
In January 2021, IntelliEPI's revenues came to NT$62.221 million (US$2.23 million), an increase of 26.16% compared to the same period in 2020. Kao said the company is optimistic about its business in 2021, thanks to momentum from the 5G and electric vehicles (EV) sectors.
