This month, Transcend released DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 FB-DIMMs, available in capacities from 512MB to 2GB. Transcend said that European Union (EU) countries, the US and Japan will be the initial key markets for the products.
The new FB-DIMMs feature Advanced Memory Buffer (AMB) chips from IDT and 512Mbit (64x8 for 512MB and 1GB capacities and 128x4 for 2GB modules) DDR2 DRAM chips from Samsung that utilize the fine-pitch ball grid array (FBGA) package, according to Transcend.
