Cisco Taiwan has set up a DevNet center for information security training at a startup park in northern Taiwan.
The talent incubation center is the company's first DevNet center in the Asia Pacific region. The Taiwan government will participate in the operation of the center and encourage local startups to join the program.
The DevNet center at Startup Terrace will also develop training courses in line with the local government's IT development targets. The center will also work with local industries and assist companies with solutions.
Figures from (ISC)2 show the global information security industry still has a shortage of four million professional workers with 2.6 million in Asia Pacific. Taiwan has a total of 21,000 information security workers but needs 3,800 more.
The Taiwan government also has allocated a budget of NT$809 million (US$28.34 million) to establish a national-level information security center to incubate talent and is working with Cisco Taiwan for the project.
