Avilon's AI-powered drone revolutionizes warehouse operations, boosting physical and cycle counting accuracy

News highlights 0

Avilon Group, a leading provider of innovative drone solutions based in Taiwan and Thailand, is revolutionizing warehouse operations with its cutting-edge indoor drone technology. By leveraging Microsoft Azure's advanced AI and machine learning algorithms, Avilon's indoor drone, Photon, transforms traditional inventory management processes without requiring extensive structural changes.

Photon, powered by advanced visual SLAM technology, accurately maps indoor spaces without relying on GPS. Equipped with a multi-camera system, Photon captures high-resolution images and videos, enabling detailed analysis and decision-making. The drone's modular design allows for customization with various sensors and payloads, adapting to diverse application scenarios and offering a suite of benefits for businesses:

Automated Efficiency: Avilon's indoor drone, Photon, powered by advanced AI and machine learning, automates tasks like physical count and cycle counting, reducing labor costs and improving operational efficiency.Improved Accuracy: Using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) scanning technology, Photon ensures precise inventory data collection, minimizing errors and optimizing warehouse management.Enhanced Safety: By automating hazardous tasks and reducing human intervention, Photon strengthens workplace safety, particularly in environments with heavy equipment and dangerous materials.Flexible Deployment: Photon is designed for easy integration into existing warehouse infrastructure, requiring minimal setup and configuration. This flexibility allows for rapid deployment in various indoor environments, including warehouses, factories, and distribution centers.

Real-World Application: A Case Study

Avilon's indoor drone solution has been successfully deployed in a Japanese automobile giant's warehouse in Thailand, where it automates physical and cycle counting tasks and can accurately identify and count inventory items, even in challenging lighting conditions.

Traditional warehouse operations, especially in industries like automotive, often involve manual counting and inspection of heavy inventory items, such as steel rolls. This labor-intensive and hazardous task exposes workers to potential injuries. Avilon's drone solution eliminates the need for manual intervention, ensuring a safer and more efficient workflow.

Unlike other large-scale warehouse automation systems, such as Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), which require significant upfront investments and infrastructure modifications, Avilon's indoor drone solution offers a cost-effective and flexible alternative. With an annual project cost of approximately 1 million TWD (30K USD) per warehouse, this innovative solution has resulted in significant cost savings, improved accuracy, and enhanced safety for warehouse workers, therefore lowering the overall labor and operational costs.

In addition to focusing on indoor warehouse drone inventory management, Avilon has recently expanded into the smart city. To explore business opportunities in Taiwan, Avilon collaborated with the Southern Taiwan Industry Promotion Center (STIPC), leveraging its resources to find partners and develop markets. With the center's support, the company successfully completed high-voltage tower inspections for power plants in southern Taiwan. These efforts have accelerated Avilon's growth, enhanced its market competitiveness, and laid a foundation for the expansion of diverse future applications.

Avilon Group is committed to pushing the boundaries of drone technology and delivering innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of industries worldwide. As the pioneer in Taiwan in introducing automated indoor flying drone technology with its own domestically manufactured drone, Avilon Group is shaping the future of warehouse automation and logistics by combining advanced AI, machine learning, and robotics.
