Taiwan's leading shared mobility provider, iRent, announced a major partnership with WeMo, bringing WeMo's fleet of 10,000 shared electric scooters onto the iRent app starting today.

The collaboration marks a new phase in the integration of Taiwan's shared mobility services. Following iRent's earlier consolidation with traditional car rental operators, this alliance with WeMo represents another significant milestone—expanding the company's platform footprint and reinforcing its ambition to build a comprehensive, interconnected mobility ecosystem.

With the partnership, the number of vehicles available for rent through the iRent app will surge. Combining WeMo's 10,000-plus electric scooters with iRent's fleet—which will soon include 1,000 new Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid vehicles beginning in October 2025—the joint platform will operate more than 20,000 shared vehicles across Taiwan, solidifying its position as the country's largest and most wide-reaching one-stop mobility network.

According to Hotai Motor, iRent members can now rent WeMo scooters directly through the iRent app. The scooters will continue to operate under WeMo's 24-hour, free-floating model, allowing users to pick up and return vehicles anywhere within service areas. Once fully deployed, coverage will span Taiwan's five major metropolitan regions: Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. iRent's own scooter fleet will continue to serve same-location rentals across the island.

The partnership significantly broadens iRent's service reach, enabling members to manage both car and scooter rentals through a single platform. The integration also encourages multimodal travel—combining car and scooter use for greater flexibility. The companies say the move enhances urban mobility, improves parking convenience, and delivers a smoother, more efficient travel experience.

Hotai said that iRent’s mission has always been to develop mobility solutions grounded in real-world user needs. The partnership with WeMo, the company noted, not only expands the combined fleet beyond 20,000 vehicles—cementing iRent’s position as Taiwan’s most extensive shared mobility platform—but also reflects its broader vision of connecting everyday life through seamless, integrated transportation.

Whether for daily commutes, weekend getaways, or shopping trips, users can now choose the mode of transportation that best suits their journey—enjoying greater freedom, efficiency, and sustainability on the road.
