Niche-market PCB maker Allied Circuit has recently sent samples for 400G network switches to clients for validation, and is expected to start shipments in the second half of the year, according to industry sources.

As 400G network switches are needed to support maximum performance of servers adopting Intel's upgraded Whitley processors, whether for datacenter or enterprise servers, the upcoming server replacement demand is expected to significantly drive shipments of such switches, in turn generating new growth momentum for Allied Circuit, the sources said. The company has volume produced PCB for 100G switches.

The company has also seen clear visibility through the fourth quarter for PCB orders for server and IPC applications, now its existing two major product lines. Its shipments for both segments are expected to ram up steadily in the months ahead, the sources continued.

In particular, its PCB shipments for servers may post sequential and on-year growths in the second half of the year, driven by the replacement demand for servers featuring new processors, the sources noted.
