WT Microelectronics 2Q21 net profit hits record

Semiconductor component distributor WT Microelectronics has reported net profit of NT$2.001 billion (US$71.6 million) for second-quarter 2021, the highest-ever quarterly level.

Of its second-quarter 2021 consolidated revenues of NT$102.096 billion, 78.3% came from China, 7.6% from Taiwan, 2.7% from South Korea, 9.9% from Southeast Asia and India, and 1.5% from other markets.

In terms of applications, smartphones accounted for 27.4% of the revenues, communication devices for 15.7%, PCs and peripherals for 23.8%, consumer electronics for 13.7%, industrial equipment and instruments for 9.9%, automotive electronics for 6.4%, and others for 3.1%.

In third-quarter 2021, WT expects demand for semiconductor components for smartphones to remain robust while components for communication devices, PCs, consumer electronics, industrial equipment and instruments, automotive electronics will be in tight supply.

For third-quarter 2021 business outlook, WT expects consolidated revenues of NT$116-122 billion, growing 13.6-19.5% sequentially and 26.3-32.8% on year; gross margin will be 3.65-3.85%, and net operating profit margin 2.3-2.5%.

WT has reported consolidated revenues of NT$36.347 billion for July, increasing 9.34% sequentially and 29.58% on year, and those of NT$236.089 billion for January-July rose 30.98% on year.

Fellow company EDOM Technology has reported consolidated revenues of NT$8.418 billion for July, rising 6.95% sequentially but dropping 13.46% on year, and those of NT$56.367 billion for January-July rose 3.51% on year.
