Getac may see April revenue hit by COVID lockdown in Kunshan

Aaron Lee, Taipei; Kevin Cheng, DIGITIMES Asia 0

Ruggedized PC vendor Getac has suspended operations at its plant in Kunshan of China's Jiangsu province due to the city's COVID lockdown, and it is evaluating the impact of the event on its revenue in April and the second quarter, according to the company.

With its consolidated revenues rising by 14.95% on year to NT$2.627 billion (US$90.964 million) in March, Getac said that orders from its clients remain unchanged at the moment. However, the Kunshan lockdown is an unpredictable variable, it pointed out.

In compliance with the city's COVID lockdown measures, which were set for April 2-6 but have been extended to April 12, Getac has suspended operation at its Kunshan plant, which mainly produces ruggedized industrial PCs and mechanical components. While the company also manufactures some ruggedized PCs in Taiwan and some mechanical components in Vietnam, it said its Kunshan plant is responsible for most of the production.

The subsidiaries of Getac Holdings include Getac Technology, mechatronic solutions provider Atemitech, plastic injection molding structural components maker MPT Solution, auto parts specialist Getac Precision Technology, and aerospace fasteners maker NAFCO.

In 2021, Getac Technology accounted for 45% of Getac Holdings' annual revenue, while MPT Solution and Getac Precision Technology contributed a combined 50%, and NAFCO contributed 5%.

Getac Holdings pointed out at a recent investors meeting that the COVID impact on the market demand for ruggedized PCs has lessened, and that it is expecting a 20% on-year growth in its auto parts shipments in 2022 thanks to rising demand.
