Dedicated IC testing house Ardentec has broken ground for a new factory site in Longtan, northern Taiwan, and expects to start operating the site by 2024.
Ardentec plans to invest a total of about NT$20 billion (US$672.8 million) in the fab tools that will be installed at the new site, said the Taiwan-based company, adding that about NT$2.2 billion will be spent on the site construction.
Ardentec is scheduled to complete constructing the Longtan site sometime in 2024, followed by equipment move-ins later in the year, the testing firm indicated. The new factory site will expand Ardentec's overall production capacity in Taiwan by about 30%, the company said.
Ardentec previously expanded its factory site in Hsinchu, northern Taiwan where it is headquartered, with an additional facility coming online in May 2021, the company disclosed.
Ardentec also has factory sites in Singapore, South Korea and China, with plans to expand its Singapore site, it continued.
Ardentec has enjoyed a strong pull-in of orders for automotive MCUs from international IDMs, according to industry sources. IDMs have already accounted for more than half of Ardentec's client base.
Ardentec is expected to see its revenue in the second half of this year outperform that in the first half, with revenue for all of 2022 registering on-year growth, said the sources.
