Pegatron, a major electronic manufacturing service (EMS) provider, recently launched a Supply Chain Decarbonization Activation Event and invited 30 supply chain partners to participate. In the event, they established a consensus on decarbonization goals and adopted a common carbon footprint verification (CFV) tool.
Seven suppliers, including panel maker Innolux Corp., Kinsus Interconnect Technology, and Unitec Printed Circuit Corp., have agreed to cut 10,000 metric tons of CO2 emission in 2 years with Pegatron. The other 23 companies including AVC, DragonJet, Hong Ya Technology, Sunon Group, and ChunKing Technology will receive Pegatron's assistance to adopt a digital management platform and CFV tool.
Pegatron's Vice President of its Quality and Sustainability Center, T.C. Chen said that Pegatron's carbon reduction progress has already cut carbon emissions by 14% in 2022 compared to 2021, and the total renewable energy usage rate of its global plants is approximately 20%. In February 2022, Pegatron signed on to join the Science-Based Targeting Initiative (SBTi), setting a carbon reduction target of "a 42% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 compared to the baseline year," which is consistent with the goals of major international customers.
Pegatron has also participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) to continue disclosing its carbon reduction progress, and exert its influence over its supply chain partners.
