Apple suppliers continue investments in India's southern states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Taiwan-based PC and E2W vendors are expanding their manufacturing efforts in India.

Foxconn is building a greenfield project to make iPhones in Karnataka. Following the state's approval of Foxonn's US$1.6 billion investment, the manufacturer was reportedly approved for an additional investment of US$1 billion.

Corning reportedly picks Tamil Nadu for first Indian cover glass plant

Sources told the Economic Times that Corning, the maker of the Gorilla Glass, had signed an INR10 billion (US$119.96 million) deal with the government of Tamil Nadu to set up its first plant in India in Pillaipakkam on a 25-acre plot, employing about 300 workers.

Acer CEO Jason Chen reiterated his optimistic view about India and Acer's commitment to locally-made products, which will be expanded further, adding that Chen is exploring other possibilities that can be made in India, possibly in collaboration with local ODMs.

Gogoro introduces made-in-India E2Ws, plans to expand battery-swapping network in India

According to Gogoro's press release, the Taiwan-based green mobility solution provider introduced the CrossOver series in India, including the made-in-India CrossOver GX250. Gogoro will expand its battery swapping network, which will be made available to B2B customers in Delhi and Goa before rolling out in Mumbai and Pune in the first half of 2024, with consumer availability in the second quarter of 2024.

Lenovo outsources notebook manufacturing to Dixon in India

According to a corporate filing to the stock exchanges in India, Dixon said Padget Electronics, its wholly-owned subsidiary, has been awarded a manufacturing contract by Lenovo to carry out manufacturing of notebooks under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware 2.0, subject to the signing of definitive agreement in due course.
