Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was spotted again in a night market in Taipei before the annual party of its Taipei subsidiary. Media reports revealed that Huang had already visited Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen last week to celebrate a year's fruitful results with its employees in China.
Nvidia confirmed that Huang had been in China last week. Photos shared by Nvidia China employees on social media showed Huang in a colorful flowery costume doing the Yangge Dance to entertain the employees.
Sources close to Huang said he did not visit with government officials in China and kept a low profile without doing important business visits or announcements. "The purpose of his visit in China is to express his gratitude to the employees and send his greetings for a happy Lunar New Year to everyone," according to a Beijing employee of Nvidia.
Jensen Huang last visited China in 2019 to participate in the Nvidia GTC conference in Suzhou, where he delivered a speech focused on the new dynamics of artificial intelligence (AI) and Nvidia's progress in several industries, including automated driving, gaming, and healthcare, etc. Until the latest visit in January, Huang had stopped visiting offices in China during the past five years since the outbreak of COVID-19 in early 2020.
Nvidia employees in China numbered nearly 3,000. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Huang used to attend the annual party to visit offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen every year, according to a Yicai report quoting local employees. Nvidia's staff in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen covers marketing, sales, R&D, and other functions.
