PARA LIGHT Electronics seizes new market opportunities of high-performance IGBT

News highlights 0

PARA LIGHT Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in LED design and manufacturing, recently announced the launch of five 650V and 1200V IGBT discrete products aimed at applications such as servo motor drive control, photovoltaic inverters, industrial energy storage, and power factor correction (PFC) of power supplies. These new products are expected to garner significant attention from customers due to their higher performance and power density.

Among the five new IGBT products, four are packaged in TO247-3 and one in TO220-3. The voltage and current specifications for the four TO247-3 packaged models are as follows: PC50N065AH7S (650V, 50A), PC75N065AH7S (650V, 75A), PC40N120AH7S (1200V, 40A), and PC75N120GH7S (1200V, 75A), each capable of withstanding a short-circuit duration of at least 5 microseconds (5μs). The part number of the TO220-3 packaged model is PC50N65BH7, with voltage and current specifications of 650V, and 50A.

Eric Hung, Vice President of Business & Marketing for the Power Semiconductor Division at PARA LIGHT Electronics, stated that these IGBT products offer higher performance, increased power density, and a wider range of switching frequencies. He also emphasized that their seasoned Quality Assurance team ensures the high quality of their new products. Additionally, PARA LIGHT's packaging and testing plant provides advantages in cost control and quick shipment, offering customers more flexible production plans for rush orders. All five new IGBT products utilize industry-leading 7th-generation IGBT design technology (Micro-Pattern Trench, MPT), offering efficiency performance improvements of 20%-30% over the industry's 6th-generation IGBTs, as illustrated in the IGBT FOM chart below.

On top of higher efficiency, the five new IGBT products from PARA LIGHT feature a maximum operational junction temperature (Tvj) of up to 175°C. These two specifications allow customers' power electronic systems to maintain lower chip temperatures and system stability during long-term full-load operation, particularly in fan-less or tough industrial environments, thereby extending system lifespan. Notably, these IGBT products support a wide-range operational switching frequency, applicable from 1kHz to 65kHz, with an optimal range of 5kHz to 55kHz. This feature enables customers to use fewer part numbers of IGBTs across different power systems, reducing their procurement costs.

PARA LIGHT also invites customers to collaborate on developing custom IGBT solutions tailored to specific needs. These custom solutions help customers address various unique or challenging application scenarios, enhancing their competitiveness in the market.

David Ma, Chairman of PARA LIGHT Electronics, highlights the critical role of IGBTs in power electronic systems, noting that their performance and quality consistency directly affect system performance, procurement costs, and failure rates. Despite numerous brands in the market, PARA LIGHT stands out with its reputation for quality and customer service. Leveraging its strengths, PARA LIGHT ensures consistent product quality for its new IGBT offerings. The company holds ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and IATF 16949 certifications, and its IGBT products undergo six major JEDEC reliability tests. All processes, from material inspection to shipment, are controlled by SPC, assuring product stability and consistency.

PARA LIGHT's new IGBT products have received positive feedback from strategic customers during sample tests and are expected to be integrated into various new projects. These projects span multiple applications, including medical power supplies, industrial servo motor drive control, industrial solar inverters (PV inverters), energy storage power management equipment, industrial UPS systems, and DC fast charging stations for electric vehicles.

Para Light's five new IGBT products are now in the mass production stage and open for batch or sample orders. The lead time for delivery is 14 weeks, but this can be reduced to 10 weeks for standing orders if demand forecasts are provided 15 weeks before the delivery date. To achieve mutually beneficial outcomes, customers in various sectors can contact Para Light to discuss strategic cooperation, including pricing and flexible logistic support.

Founded in 1987 and listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 2008 (stock code 6226), PARA LIGHT Electronics is a global leader in LED design and manufacturing. Nine years ago, it established an Optical Laboratory Center, expanding to LED module design and manufacturing. To adapt to quick global market changes, PARA LIGHT set up a packaging plant in Yangon, Myanmar, and is now expanding into the power semiconductor field.
