Huawei is set to showcase its latest flagship smartphones at the "Huawei Mate Brand Ceremony" on November 26, with pre-orders already surpassing 1.7 million units. The company has opened reservations for three models: the Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, and Mate 70 Pro+, each available in 12GB and 16GB memory configurations across eight color options. The anticipated Mate 70 RS Ultimate Edition remains unlisted.

Premium display and security features

According to Huawei Central, the Mate 70 Pro is expected to feature a 1.5K resolution display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Higher-end models will incorporate equal-depth quad-curved screens, while the base model will maintain a straight-screen design. Gadgets 360 reports that all variants except the standard model will include ToF face unlock capability and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, alongside 13mp front cameras.

Advanced camera system

The Mate 70 series will showcase a sophisticated quad camera arrangement, featuring a 50mp main sensor, 40mp ultrawide sensor, and 16mp infrared lens. While the standard model incorporates a 12mp periscope telephoto lens, the Pro variants and above will utilize an enhanced 50mp periscope telephoto lens. ICsmart reveals that the series employs diverse image sensors: OmniVision's OV50H in at least one model, SmartSens' SC580XS in two others, and potentially a Sony sensor in the RS Ultimate Edition.

Enhanced battery and charging capabilities

The Mate 70 Pro boasts a substantial 5500mAh battery capacity. The standard model supports 66W fast charging, while Pro variants and above are expected to feature 100W fast charging capability.

HarmonyOS NEXT debut

The series marks a significant milestone as the first to run on HarmonyOS NEXT, signaling the official commercialization of Huawei's fully self-developed operating system. The launch is expected to coincide with the official release of the HarmonyOS version of WeChat.

While official pricing remains undisclosed, industry sources suggest the Mate 70 series' starting price may exceed its predecessor, potentially beginning at CNY5,999 (US$828.16).
