Advantech Co., Ltd. has approved a US$96.5 million investment to build a new headquarters campus in Tustin, California, aiming to expand its North American operations. The facility is scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2026 and will support the company's revenue exceeding US$1.5 billion in the region.

California campus to strengthen local capabilities

The new campus will house office spaces, assembly lines, warehouses, exhibition and conference centers, as well as after-sales repair zones. This move is part of Advantech's strategy to strengthen local assembly and service capabilities while enhancing its presence in the North American market, which currently represents over 38% of the global industrial edge market valued at an estimated US$21.29 billion in 2024.

Edge computing sector shows strong growth trajectory

According to estimates, Advantech is expected to see its industrial edge sector grow at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 13.4% through 2030, driven by the increasing adoption of edge computing and AI applications. The company is focused on deepening relationships with core customers in the region and expanding opportunities in these emerging technologies.

Strong regional performance despite challenges

Despite challenges such as tariffs and previous customer inventory adjustments, Advantech reported a 23% year-over-year increase in first-quarter 2025 revenue in North America and sustained growth rates exceeding 20% throughout the first half of the year. The order-to-shipment ratio remained above 1 through the second quarter, indicating steady demand and stable orders in the region.

AI partnerships drive innovation focus

In alignment with these efforts, Advantech is participating in Automation Taipei 2025. The event highlights AI, smart machinery, and intelligent factories, reflecting the company's commitment to AI and edge computing. Advantech is collaborating with industry partners, including Nvidia Corporation, Microsoft Corp., ADATA, and others, to advance innovative AI applications for manufacturing and industrial use.

Vincent Chang, managing director and associate vice president of the Asian and Intercontinental Region at Advantech, emphasized that AI and edge computing are central to digital transformation in manufacturing. The company aims to showcase its ongoing investment and achievements in these technologies through practical application scenarios. This expansion and emphasis on advanced technologies reflect Advantech's strategy to sustain long-term growth in the North American market.
