C3 Labs, headquartered in Sri Lanka, has announced the establishment of a new business unit called Pixel Paper Labs, focusing on the development, design, and manufacturing of e-paper products for both local and international markets.

First dedicated e-paper facility in Sri Lanka

Pixel Paper Labs will become Sri Lanka's first dedicated facility for e-paper product design and development. The lab will focus on sustainable, low-power, and smart digital solutions, with applications spanning e-paper signage, retail, logistics, education, and smart city initiatives.

Strategic partnership combines expertise

E Ink Holdings stated that the new facility will combine the company's e-paper display technology with C3's expertise in cross-disciplinary engineering, design, and prototyping to develop and commercialize next-generation display applications. Pixel Paper Labs will also serve as a collaborative platform for researchers, startups, and manufacturers to co-develop e-paper products tailored for emerging markets.

Accelerated development and testing capabilities

The new center is expected to accelerate the development process from concept to finished product and serve as a testing platform for assessing the environmental durability, energy efficiency, and scalability of e-paper products.

Regional hub ambitions

E Ink emphasized that this partnership highlights Sri Lanka's high-tech manufacturing and export capabilities and opens new opportunities for entering the global smart display and IoT markets.

Pixel Paper Labs will facilitate cooperation among academia, startups, and industry, aiming to establish Sri Lanka as a regional hub for e-paper technology innovation. Through internships, training, and joint research programs, the initiative will cultivate local talent, nurturing a new generation of engineers and designers to lead the future of sustainable technology development.
