In line with increasing security concerns for protecting mobile data, SanDisk plans to roll out a biometric equipped USB flash drive called Cruzer Profile, in the first quarter of 2006.
Security on the USB drive is based on fingerprint recognition, with different levels of security available for protecting personal data. A 512MB and 1GB version of the device will be available with a suggested retail price of US$80 and US$140, respectively, according to the company.
Company executive Nelson Chan stressed that no supporting software needs to be installed on the computer when using the drive.
