The first quarter marked the first time that Taiwan saw its overall LCD shipments drop sequentially, with shipments falling 23% to 1.156 million units. The traditional slow season in the quarter was exasperated by a build-up of inventory affecting shipments because demand during the Chinese Lunar New Year and the Winter Olympics was lower than expected.
