Transcend recently announced its new 160GB StoreJet 2.5 SATA external hard drive.
The StoreJet 2.5 features a polished aluminum case which houses a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive. The external hard drive comes with a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface.
The StoreJet's 160GB hard disk drive (HDD) supports transfer rates of up to 1.5Gb/s via "point to point" data connections, according to the company.
The StoreJet 2.5 SATA HDD features a one-touch auto backup button, and comes bundled with Transcend's own StoreJet elite 2.0 software, which offers an intelligent backup scheduling, security, and power saving functions.
The StoreJet 2.5 SATA is available in silver (80GB), titanium (120GB), and blue (160GB). Additionally, the StoreJet 2.5 SATA is available as an external enclosure without a HDD, in silver, blue or red colors. The enclosure is 100% compatible with all brands of 2.5-inch SATA hard drives, Transcend noted.
Transcend's StoreJet 2.5 supports all commonly used operating systems, like Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Mac OS 9.0/OS X, and Linux kernel 2.4, or later.
The StoreJet 2.5 is available now at a before tax price of US$143 for the 160GB version, US$114 for the 120GB version and US$99.20 for the 80GB model.
