In September 2014, Japan was the only market where average retail pricing for Ultra HD TVs increased, with 40- and 50-inch units climbing 6.8% and 17.3% respectively, according to Digitimes Research.
Pricing in the UK, Germany, the US and China for 60-inch units dropped 7% while other sizes on average dropped 5%. Japan on the other hand saw 40- and 50-inch units reach US$867 and US$1,220 respectively.
Sharp and Toshiba were at the forefront of releasing new Ultra HD TVs during the month, which contributed to the increase in Japan in addition to new units equipped with advanced 3D and Internet connectivity features, said Digitimes Research.
