COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2015, Asia's largest and the world's second-largest IT trade show, has always been the center of attention in the eye of the global IT industry. Eye-opening innovations turn up at the event every year, attracting international buyers seeking new business opportunities. Taiwan, of strategic importance in the worldwide IT industry, has complete communications infrastructure and close cooperation among industries. And because of end device makers' strong manufacturing capabilities and agility in response to market changes, COMPUTEX TAIPEI has been able to keep expanding in scale year after year.
CEC Huada Electronic Design Co., Ltd.(hereafter HED),which has been actively penetrating into international markets in recent years, focuses its COMPUTEX 2015 exhibition on BeiDou and IoT. HED hopes to leverage advantages of the Taiwan semiconductor supply chain and technology to open up more partnership opportunities through closer communication and interaction with local businesses.
"We held a forum, entitled 'BeiDou Chips capturing China IoT and wearable device opportunities,' with the help from Digitimes in Taipei in 2014. We received positive feedback from many companies and quite a few further signed partnership agreements with us, and together we have formed a strategic alliance. Taiwan has strong R&D talent, experiences with worldwide markets, and advantages in innovative designs. HED hopes to enhance collaboration with Taiwan makers and through the complementary partnerships, jointly expand into China as well as global markets," says Zhong-Liang Sun, General Manager,GNSS Business Division, HED.
Seeking partnership opportunities with Taiwan makers, joining forces to march into China and global markets
Satellite navigation applications are showing booming growth in recent years. Both ABI Research reports and the 2014 Chinese BeiDou Navigation Industry Blue Book point out IoT, wearable devices, logistics control, mandatory navigation systems in long-distance buses and vehicles transporting dangerous goods, smart cities, smart travel, and insurance are the focus areas where we will see increases of satellite navigation applications.
HED is one of the fast rising China-based chip suppliers capable of delivering total navigation chip solutions. At COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2015, HED maps out three major exhibition areas, respectively for application product displays, live product demonstrations, and chipset module exhibits. In addition to its premium BeiDou positioning chips, HED is also showcasing BeiDou positioning chips designed specifically for IoT and wearable devices, with an open secondary development platform to help customers design differentiating products. Furthermore, HED is also announcing partnership plans with supply chain links. HED hopes to attract more international buyers to inquire about potential partnerships so as to establish roadmaps and collaboration approaches for expansion in China as well as worldwide markets.
Sun points out the BeiDou satellite navigation system has become one of the world's four leading positioning systems thanks to strong promotion by related China government units. The service area has expanded from Asia to the entire world. Furthermore, the China satellite navigation market is growing rapidly, opening up tremendous satnav opportunities. At COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2015, HED is launching navigation chips HD8xxx series supporting the world's four leading positioning systems - GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, and Galileo to meet diverse market requirements in different countries. HD8020 series offers a smart power management mode with which configurations can be set based on satellite signal conditions to significantly reduce power consumption. HD8030 comes with an SDK software development platform for customers to further develop differentiating features. HD8030 also has LCD driving capability, thereby bringing savings on peripheral component costs.
Robust HED R&D serving both consumer and professional markets
HED divides satnav chip uses into two areas respectively targeting consumer electronics and industrial applications. Consumer electronics have a wide range of uses, categorized into eight areas including GNSS modules, video surveillance, tracking devices, wearable devices, front or back mounted vehicle navigation, cell sites, mobile computation, and smartphones. Industrial applications center on electrical power and communication base stations.
Different markets demand different navigation chips. Consumer electronics are more sensitive to product costs and power consumption and the demands and prices are changing more quickly so they mostly prefer high CP ratio chips. In comparison, navigation chips for industrial applications are used in special environments and thus require long-term testing and verification before they are able to penetrate into the supply chain. Stable and constant supply in the long run also has to be ensured.
Sun states that in response to the two major market needs, in addition to ensuring its navigation chips' high performance, HED also offers two separate lines of chips to meet requirements under different application environments. Besides chip functionality, HED is also striving to enhance product quality by implementing strict quality and security control on the R&D and production management system so as to meet delivery schedule and top quality objectives. HED endeavors to become the most reliable navigation chip supplier. Furthermore, HED will make its COMPUTEX debut this year and also participate in the IoT forum held concurrently with COMPUTEX on June 4 to exchange thoughts on IoT applications and trends with industry peers. HED looks forward to being an integral part of the industry ecosystem. Visitors are welcome to the HED located at No.I1201,1F, Nangang exhibition hall.
