Networking device maker Accton Technology has said that it will kick off its shipments of 400G switch products as scheduled in June despite the impacts of confirmed COVID infections among its employees and the persistent shortages of some crucial components.
The firm said it will give shipment priority to 400G switch products for cloud datacenter clients although the infections may affect its capacity by 10% as well as its revenues by 5% in June.
The firm made the statement after 12 employees of its plant in Chunan, northern Taiwan were confirmed infected with COVID-19 as of June 7.
The firm said it has stepped up precautionary measures to safeguard the health of its employees and the infections have been placed under control. It added that the plant's operation has remained normal and that the firm's overall performance for all of 2021 will not be affected.
Market observers noted that cloud service providers are likely to start taking delivery of 400G switches in the second half of 2021, and more enterprise clients will start adopting comparable devices in 2022-2023, driving up shipment momentum for 400G switch products.
