Vietnam expects digital economy to reach 20% of GDP by 2025 and 30% by 2030, prime minister Pham Minh Chinh said at the Digital World 2021 exhibition, cohosted by the government of Vietnam and International Telecommunication Union (ITU), according to Vietnamese-language news outlet Youth Newspaper.

Pham also acknowledged the critical role the local digital technology suppliers will be playing in digital transformation in Vietnam.

The event is being held both physically and virtually, demonstrating digital products, services, and solutions from 40 countries. There are also six rounds of minister-level conferences on investment and digital transformation, where ministers from the member states of the ITU discuss ways to promote digitization in the daily lives.

The event includes seminars on various topics such as raw materials needed for digital transformation, satellites, artificial intelligence (AI), green tech, and cybersecurity.
