Microsoft Taiwan has established a Taiwan ICT Sustainability Green Team in a bid to help local manufacturers realize carbon reductions.
The Taiwan government has set a goal of attaining net zero carbon emission in 2050 and demands that listed manufacturing companies complete inventories of greenhouse gas (GHG) by 2027.
If Taiwan-based makers want to maintain their roles in global supply chains, their sustainability management should comply with international and local regulations and meet clients' requirements, Microsoft Taiwan said.
For Taiwan-based makers, digital transformation with sustainability at the core is necessary and therefore transparency on carbon footprint is crucial, Microsoft Taiwan COO Flora Chen noted at Microsoft GreenTech Day forum.
Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability is developed based on Microsoft's experience in managing internal sustainability for over 10 years and combination with highly expandable ESG functions developed by Microsoft ecosystem partners.
Microsoft Sustainability Manager, the cloud's core sustainability management platform, is an SaaS that can help enterprises connect various IoT devices recording environmental footprints in production processes with their ERP and other core management systems to automatically and calculate carbon emissions.
The Taiwan ICT Sustainability Green Team consists of leading manufacturers including Foxconn Electronics, AU Optronics (AUO), Delta Electronics, Advantech, consulting companies including Systex and PwC Taiwan, several software startups such as Chase Sustainability Technology and Wishing Software Development.
