On April 22, Foxconn Group announced its commitment to the RE100 initiative, pledging to use 100% green power in its global plants by 2040.
Foxconn chairman Young Liu said that Foxconn will continue to look for the most suitable international standards. The decision to respond to RE100 is also based on this concept.
Liu also hopes that by responding to RE100 proactively, Foxconn will help the supply chain and partners pursue sustainable management. This will ultimately realize the Double E formula of EPS+ESG, which Foxconn has implemented in its operation.
According to Foxconn, in 2022, among the eight long-term goals in the environmental field, it has already publicly committed to achieving a 50% green power target by 2030. Thanks to the team's efforts, Foxconn's green power utilization has reached more than 40% in 2023 and will continue to increase every year in the future.
Currently, Foxconn has 205 factories and offices in 24 countries and regions around the world. To achieve the 100% green power usage commitment, Foxconn pledged to overcome the challenges of varying renewable energy resources and supporting laws and regulations in different regions and countries.
In a press release, Foxconn said that it will utilize multiple measures such as energy efficiency improvement, self-built solar power stations, green Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), green certificate purchase, and investment in green energy funds, and establish short-, medium-, and long-term plans to develop various types of renewable energy actively.
In the future, Foxconn also hopes to further promote market changes by responding to RE100, developing renewable energy, driving the supply chain, and increasing the use of green power.
