Global AP shipments to Chinese smartphone brands are expected to rise by 9.3% sequentially in the third quarter of 2024, driven by the peak season and the vendors' inventory preparation for their flagship devices.
Abstract

DIGITIMES Research estimates that China's smartphone AP shipments returned to the traditional off-season pattern in the second quarter of 2024, with a slight quarter-on-quarter increase of 3%.

Smartphone vendors had already stocked up in the first quarter in preparation for the 618 shopping festival, leaving only little momentum to stimulate orders catering for the third quarter, a period without major promotional activities.

Looking forward to the third quarter, China smartphone AP shipments will increase by 9.3% quarter-on-quarter, as smartphone vendors are entering the traditional peak season. The smartphone vendors' plans to launch flagship models in the fourth quarter will prompt them to stock up on 5G APs. In addition, growth in 5G subscribers in overseas emerging markets and the peak-season effects will boost AP vendors' shipments.
