Taiwanese electric scooter manufacturer Gogoro has been cleared of allegations that it falsely claimed its VIVA model was domestically produced. The Taiwanese government concluded there was insufficient evidence to support the claims.

Gogoro recently found itself at the center of a "false origin" controversy. On October 1, the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Industrial Development Administration announced its review results, stating that there was "insufficient evidence" to conclude that the reported Gogoro VIVA model violated domestic production regulations. However, due to an error in the application documents listing Quanta as the motor controller supplier, this information will be corrected to Gogoro.

The Administration stated that it will conduct a comprehensive review of all Gogoro models currently on sale to ensure compliance with domestic production standards. Since the current data was provided by Gogoro, the Administration will also closely monitor any new evidence that may arise from the ongoing judicial investigation.

Gogoro expressed gratitude for the Administration's investigation, which helped clarify that the company had complied with domestic production regulations. The company apologized for the inconvenience and trouble caused to consumers and regulatory authorities due to administrative errors in the documentation process. Going forward, Gogoro pledged to strengthen its internal controls and preventive measures, and implement supervision and control at all levels.
