Wistron announced the launch of the Wistron Computing Power Donation Program, pledging to donate 1 million GPU hours annually starting in 2026. The free resources will be made available to promising startups and academic research institutions both in Taiwan and abroad.
Creating positive social impact through technology
Initiated by Wistron and jointly promoted with the Epoch Foundation's Garage+, the program centers on creating positive social impact through technology by integrating industry resources.
Each year, the program will support multiple startup teams and research institutions, granting each selected project six months of free access to between 5,000 and 35,000 GPU hours. This assistance aims to help teams train, fine-tune, and deploy artificial intelligence (AI) models, as well as conduct various complex simulations and virtual computing experiments.
Wistron chairman Simon Lin stated that technology should not be merely a competition, but a force for shared progress. He noted that while AI has become a key driver of industry sustainability and technological innovation, computing power costs remain a major barrier for many innovators and researchers.
Supporting technological breakthroughs and practical applications
Unlike typical funding programs, the Wistron Computing Power Donation Program is not merely a grant of computing resources. It is an integrated initiative combining computing power, incubation, and industry connections, focusing on supporting technological breakthroughs and practical applications in key areas such as AI and sustainable technology.
Garage+ will provide startup mentorship and industry connections to ensure that technological innovations move beyond the laboratory and reach real markets. Academic research institutions can also benefit from the program, overcoming computing power limitations, achieving significant results, and accelerating practical implementation and field validation to generate greater value.
The application period for domestic and international startups, as well as Taiwanese academic and research organizations, opens on November 3, 2025, and closes on December 12, 2025. Selected candidates are expected to be announced in early January 2026.
