Driven by government policy, China's IT application innovation (ITAI) PC industry has achieved significant breakthroughs in targeted sectors such as government agencies, financial institutions, and telecommunications, with education and healthcare emerging as the next promising markets.
However, due to limited market awareness and acceptance, ITAI PCs have yet to gain traction in China's consumer segment. The rise of AI PCs is expected to create an opportunity for ITAI solutions to challenge the long-standing Wintel dominance, according to DIGITIMES.
CPUs remain the most critical component for achieving autonomous and controllable supply chains within China's ITAI industry. Currently, domestically produced CPUs in China fall into three main development paths: the x86 architecture represented by Hygon Information Technology; Arm-based solutions led by FeiTeng; and independently developed or modified instruction set architectures, such as Loongson.
