Panjit International has approved the use of US$10.03 million of internal funds to acquire a 95% stake in Torex Vietnam Semiconductor (Torex Vietnam), a subsidiary of Torex Semiconductor, on November 17. The acquisition aims to expand product lines and introduce automotive-grade power semiconductor packaging and testing production lines, further strengthening Panjit's presence in the artificial intelligence (AI), automotive, power supply, and green energy sectors.
Expanding to boost competitiveness, provide more flexibility
According to Panjit, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Torex in February 2025, the two parties have implemented a strategic partnership. This investment in Torex Vietnam is primarily aimed at strengthening its manufacturing bases in Southeast Asia, improving production flexibility and supply chain resilience, and boosting its overall competitiveness in the global market.
Amid rising geopolitical tensions and global supply chain restructuring trends, Panjit emphasized its commitment to steady international expansion. By diversifying its manufacturing locations, the company aims to provide customers with more varied and flexible production options.
Leveraging strengths to create synergy
Torex, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Prime Market, specializes in analog CMOS power ICs. Its products are used in consumer electronics such as smartphones, digital cameras, and computers, as well as in automotive systems, including navigation, electronic toll collection (ETC) onboard units, electric power windows, and industrial equipment such as robots.
Torex Vietnam was established in 2008 and is located in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park II (VSIP II) in Vietnam's Binh Duong Province near Ho Chi Minh City. The facility focuses on semiconductor component packaging and testing services, including IC packaging and testing, and employs patented ultra-small package (USP) technology.
Panjit highlighted its long-term expertise in discrete components and noted the rapid growth of its IC product lines in recent years. The company is accelerating vertical integration across design, packaging, and testing.
By partnering with its subsidiary MetaWells and Torex Vietnam, Panjit plans to combine technical, manufacturing, and market resources to create synergistic benefits. At the same time, this collaboration complements the company's product portfolio in AI, automotive, power supply, and green energy applications. By enhancing its packaging and testing capabilities, the company will strengthen its supply capacity in these fields.
