Amazon Web Services (AWS) has signed a long-term framework agreement with the Telangana government to invest US$7 billion in expanding its cloud data-center infrastructure in Hyderabad over the next 14 years. The deal was finalized during the Telangana Rising Global Summit held on December 8–9 and announced on Thursday.
According to the Economic Times, Hindu Business Line, and Deccan Herald, under the agreement, Telangana will provide facilitation measures, infrastructure support, and ease-of-doing-business interventions to help AWS accelerate the expansion of its hyperscale facilities. The investment is expected to strengthen the Hyderabad AWS Region's role in supporting cloud services, artificial intelligence workloads, startups, enterprises, and government platforms nationwide.
Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy described the investment as a major endorsement of the state's governance and long-term economic roadmap. "The scale of this commitment reflects the trust investors now place in our governance, stability, and long-term vision to propel Telangana to the three trillion dollar goal," he said, calling the project a milestone under the Telangana Rising 2047 initiative.
State officials said the framework underscores Telangana's readiness to support large-scale digital infrastructure with access to land, power, connectivity, and policy support. The AWS expansion is expected to be among the flagship outcomes of the summit and aligns with the state's push to make cloud, AI, and digital platforms central pillars of growth over the next two decades.
Sandeep Dutta, president of AWS India and South Asia, said the agreement reflects AWS's ongoing commitment to India's digital transformation. He added that the company aims to contribute to Telangana's ambition of becoming a global technology hub by creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and developing a skilled workforce to drive the country's digital economy.
