Smartphone-use lens module maker Largan Precision has reported consolidated revenues of NT$3.213 billion (US$114 million) for February 2021, decreasing 30.27% sequentially and 12.44% on year to reach the lowest monthly level since March 2019.
The revenues dropped mainly because there were fewer working days during Lnar New Year in mid-February, Largan said.
Largan said 20-megapixel and above lens modules accounted for 20-30% of the revenues; 10- to below 20-megapixel, 40-50%; 8- to below 10-megapixel, 0-10%; and below 8-megapixel, 20-30%.
Largan expects March sales to grow sequentially and those for second-quarter 2021 to rise on quarter.
Largan posted consolidated revenues of NT$7.818 billion for January-February, growing 0.61% on year.
Largan's board of directors has decided to distribute a cash dividend per share of NT$91.50 for 2020, accounting for 50.03% of the corresponding net EPS of NT$182.90.
Smartphone cameras specification upgrades, increasing adoption of periscope lens modules and growing demand for 5G smartphones are expected to boost Largan's business in 2021, industry sources indicated.
Largan said it has settled litigation with fellow maker Ability Opto-Electronics Technology (AOET) for AOET's alleged infringement of its business secrets. Both parties have signed a confidential agreement and Largan will withdraw all cases in litigation process, Largan indicated.
