Flexible PCB specialists Zhen Ding Technology and Flexium Interconnect both saw their August revenues register double-digit sequential gains to hit new highs, mainly driven by strong shipments for Apple devices.
Zhen Ding's revenue for the month surged 24.63% sequentially and 40.84% on year reaching NT$14.521 billion (US$524.22 million), and Flexium's spiked 10.05% on month and 20.42% on year to NT$3.065 billion.
Zhen Ding said its peak-season shipments for 2021 will continue to ramp up till October-November, and its increasing shares in shipments of SLP (substrate-like PCB) mainboards, flexible antenna modules, and battery modules for iPhones, as well as deliveries of MacBook miniLED backlit boards, will further drive up its revenues in the months ahead.
Flexium attributed its revenue gains in August partly to the commercialization of new capacity for LCP antenna boards for iPhones and partly to fulfillment of new FPCB orders for Apple Watch and AirPods applications, which will both continue to bolster its revenues in the remaining months of the year.
As Chinese handset vendors have yet to show strong shipment pull-in momentum, FPCB suppliers holding big Apple orders in hand will be able to extend their leadership in the FPCB market, according to industry sources.
