Corning to make front-cover glass for handsets in Tamil Nadu
The Tamil Nadu government signed an MoU with Bharat Innovative Glass Technologies, a joint venture formed by US-based Corning and India-based Optiemus, with the latter planning to invest INR10 billion (US$120.4 million) to set up a manufacturing facility at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Pillaipakkam near Chennai.

According to the Press Information Bureau of India, the Indian government approved an MoU with the European Commission signed on November 21, looking to foster bilateral collaboration at government-to-government and business-to-business levels in semiconductors.
India sees surging electronics exports thanks to iPhone manufacturers
The Economic Times reported India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) data showed that electronics exports from India grew by 22.24% to over US$20 billion during the first nine months of fiscal 2024 (April 2023 to March 2024), with handsets accounting for 52% of the exports. iPhones constituted 70% of India's handset exports and 35% of total electronics exports during the same period.

According to the Press Information Bureau of India, the Ministry of Heavy Industries of India announced the re-bidding of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes for advanced chemistry cells of 10GWh with a budget outlay of INR36.2 billion (US$435.65 million), encouraging manufacturers to set up facilities as part of India's efforts to promote green mobility and renewable energy.
