Apple is reportedly in talks with Google and is considering implementing the Gemini Large Language Model (LLM) into the iPhone.
According to a report by Bloomberg, sources pointed out that Apple intends to implement Google Gemini into the iPhone to support generative AI functions. The two sides are engaged in "active discussions," but have yet to discuss final details.
Apple has also continued to be in contact with OpenAI staff to discuss the possibility of using its AI model. At a recent shareholders' meeting, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that Apple has made significant investments in AI and is expected to announce related news later in 2024.
Cook further mentioned that generative AI will bring innovations in productivity, problem-solving, and various other aspects. Apple is finally embracing generative AI, marking a shift in direction.
More AI-related news may be announced as early as the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, alongside the reveal of iOS 18. However, Bloomberg suggests that the Gemini agreement between Apple and Google may not be finalized so quickly.
Google Gemini has three versions, with the parameter scale from small to large being Gemini Nano, Pro, and Ultra. Google's Pixel 8 Pro and Electronics' Galaxy S24 series can run Gemini Nano on the device side, and the S24 series can also access Gemini Pro via the cloud.
