Malaysia-based EMS provider Nationgate has stated that the US's latest export ban on Nvidia's H20 to China has not impacted its business operations. According to The Edge Malaysia, Nationgate is the only contract manufacturer in Southeast Asia collaborating with Nvidia. The company handles AI data center server businesses.

Soaring growth through Nvidia partnership

Nationgate's robust growth is widely attributed to its close partnership with Nvidia. Its data computing revenue surged from MYR100 million (US$22.8 million) in fiscal year 2023 to MYR4.6 billion in fiscal year 2024, accounting for 88% of total revenue.

Focus on H200 and B200 servers

Regarding the H20 export ban, Nationgate co-founder Eng Leong Ooi clarified that the company does not assemble the H20 itself but assembles servers using the H200 chip as well as B200 AI GPU servers.

Ooi believes the ban will increase demand for AI servers, driving production volumes higher. Nationgate is projected to ship between 3,000 and 5,000 GPU servers in fiscal year 2025.

Export control challenges and opportunities

Earlier in 2025, the US accused Singapore and Malaysia of acting as transshipment hubs for high-end AI chips being illegally exported into China. At that time, Ooi stated that the case was unrelated to Nationgate and that the company cannot control the actions of the Nvidia Cloud Partner (NCP).

He noted that Nvidia's ecosystem enforces strict regulations, and any violations by NCP would naturally result in consequences. While Nationgate cannot immediately dispel the negative impact caused by the incident, it sees long-term opportunities because servers shipped to Southeast Asian markets will require ongoing updates and maintenance.
