Toshiba's EV-related business is mainly in semiconductors, including the chips for control, such as ADAS, IVI, BMS, braking, and steering. It also provides automotive semiconductor components such as IGBTs and MOSFETs. At the beginning of 2022, it announced JPY 100 billion investment in the construction of a power semiconductor plant. By 2025, its SiC power semiconductors will reach 10 times that of 2020. Toshiba is also developing SCiB lithium titanate batteries for HEVs and Cu2O solar cells with high-power conversion efficiency for use in EVs to boost efficiency of batteries.
