AMD is suing Samsung for alleged breach of five patents relating to fabrication technology and one to displays.

"...it has agreed to form a strategic partnership with a local semiconductor company, Fidelix. Under the deal, the chipmaker will provide its foundry service to Fidelix, while the semiconductor company will design a variety of consumer-specified DRAM chips for Hynix..."

"...TSMC spokesman said the company remains fully committed to our agreement with Spansion but declined to comment on possible order cuts...One hope for foundry chip makers such as TSMC is that any reductions in chip orders by one company may be made up in increased orders by other chip companies..."

AMD is quietly cutting 5% of its workforce. Pink slips have been handed out now. The cuts are going to be across the board, not targeted at any specific group.
