GrassWonder Selfie Robot opens up a value chain full of creativity

Press release 0

Many traditional camera manufacturers are seeing their business decline but this does not mean consumers are giving up photo-taking. Quite on the contrary, people are embracing photo-taking more than ever before. It is just that the photo-taking device has turned from the camera to the smartphone. However, the smartphone is not designed to shoot good quality pictures, so innovative selfie robots come to the rescue.

An appealing picture usually captures the person in a natural pose with both hands able to move freely and a sweet expression with ease. Unfortunately, when people try to take a selfie using their smartphone, the shooting distance is limited to an arm's length and most of the time they can only hold the smartphone high and take the selfie top-down with limited expressions or poses to make. It is obvious that distance is an important factor affecting how the picture turns out. This is exactly what led GrassWonder to develop the Selfie Robot.

Cheng-Lun Chang, COO, GrassWonder, states the user only needs to first download Fiedora, a smart selfie-taking app, and then put the smartphone in the docker of the Selfie Robot. The devices can synchronize via Bluetooth technology, and the user can choose to enable smart selfie-taking by face tracking, with a photo-shooting distance as far as 3 meters. The user can also select the manual mode and operate with a remote control such that a "photographing assistant" is available to take pictures of two lovers or a group at a distance as far as 10 meters away. Most importantly, no commands are needed during the shooting of the selfie or video, and the Selfie Robot can automatically track the subjects in all directions and capture the perfect moments.

In addition to selfie-taking and photo touchup, the user can create a personalized magazine

"Besides taking good pictures, users can use Fiedora to modify the photos and share them out," said Chang. Fiedora offers touchup effects including dark under-eye circle elimination, complexion brightening, face slimming, blemish removal, and figure elongation. Users can use these effects to make their photos even more attractive and upload them onto GrassWonder's Wonderfie cloud platform, which provides ready-made templates, including fashion magazine templates co-designed with ELLE, to create a personalized magazine by making a cover page, extracting portraits, replacing pictures, and adding text.

In addition to creating a magazine of one's own to share with friends and family, users can also view other people's magazines and give "likes" to show support for one's own or others' good works. Then, users can collect and organize photos in a way much like a magazine. Photos of each event can be arranged into a magazine and can also be pushed onto Line, Facebook, WeChat, and Instagram, making dreams come true for selfie lovers.

To build up the smart selfie-taking value chain, comprising the Selfie Robot, Fiedora App, and Wonderfie cloud platform, GrassWonder has incorporated a host of patented technologies, including an algorithm that enables a timer to countdown prior to photo-taking and a docker design that can hold on tight to a smartphone regardless of the thickness, as well as all-round innovations encompassing hardware designs, software developments, and Internet interfaces.

It should be noted that the new Selfie Robot will be available for purchase at GrassWonder's agent, HEIMAVISTA's booth B1220, Taipei World Trade Center starting on July 30, the first day of the 2015 Taipei Computer Applications Show. The new Selfie Robot will also be on sale in Tsann Kuen stores in August.
