Lighting equipment supplier China Electric expects LED lighting applications to share more than 3% of its total revenues in 2009, according to the Taiwan-based company.

LED lighting players are eyeing the replacement market for halogen lamps used in commercial areas such as hotels and restaurants, according to market sources.

Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) has invested a total of NT$850 million (US$28 million) in two Taiwan-based lighting product makers, as it aims at the eco-friendly lighting market.
