Garmin, at a November 29 press conference, unveiled the nuvi760, a high-end GPS PND, which will launch in the Taiwan market around December 22 at a recommended retail price of NT$16,800 (US$520).
The nuvi760 features a 4.3-inch 480×720-pixel LCD touch screen, Chinese and English interfaces, Bluetooth hands-free calling, and the ability to search for points of interest by telephone numbers instead of addresses. The device measures 12.17×7.52×1.95cm (W×H×D) and weighs 175g, according to Garmin.
Garmin launched its first nuvi series PND, the nuvi200, in Taiwan at NT$8,900 in March 2007 and followed with a second model, the nuvi200W at NT$11,500 in mid-October, Garmin noted.
Garmin has sold more than 10 million GPS PNDs globally so far in 2007, according to product marketing director Michael Hsu of Garmin. Three of Garmin's four GPS PND factories are located in Taiwan, and the company will expand its total annual production capacity to 20 million units in 2008, Hsu pointed out.
