Taiwan's PCB manufacturer Global Brands Manufacture (GBM) is cautiously optimistic about its performance in the third quarter of 2021, as the ongoing IC shortages may disrupt its shipments for notebook applications, which command a significant portion of its sales.
At its recent shareholders meeting, GBM said it has been asked by clients to ready all kinds of PCB offerings, but its actual shipments, particularly for notebook applications, have been affected by shortages of related chips and other components.
Nevertheless, the company stressed it will step up strengthening its HDI PCB manufacturing technology and developing low-loss and super low-loss materials required for high-end 5G notebooks adopting HPC chips.
GBM continued it will also move its EMS business into higher-end segments including automotive electronics, seeking to leverage its existing automotive PCB production capacity and EMS technology to build a solid presence in the automotive electronics field.
Furthermore, it will inject more resources into its overseas manufacturing operations in China, Japan and Malaysia to better serve Chinese and non-China clients.
