DIGITIMES surveyed the global top five notebook brands (excluding Apple) and the top three notebook ODMs for August 2025 shipments (excluding detachable models). As the traditional peak season in the notebook market began, major notebook brand vendors launched their seasonal inventory buildup in August.
Overall shipment volume in August increased compared to July, supported by easing processor shortages, lower freight costs, and a surge of urgent orders from the education sector. Combined, these factors drove a month-over-month shipment increase of 13% in the month, with year-over-year growth of approximately 4% compared to August 2024.
Among the top five notebook brands in August, Lenovo delivered the strongest shipment performance, growing over 35% month-over-month. This was mainly due to urgent orders from Japan's education market, which significantly boosted shipments of Lenovo Chromebooks and other education devices compared to the previous month.
